Skincare has always been something near and dear to my heart and honestly its more important to me than putting on makeup because i believe that if your skin is beautiful you don’t need much make-up to apply.I’ve always been a minimalist when it comes to applying makeup so having an effective skincare routine has always been key for me.I try to find products that suit my sensitive combination skin that are natural and also rich in active ingredients that would give my skin that extra boost it needs to have that youthful glow.
I divide my skincare into day and night using products that are more richer during the night and lighter and fresh during the day.
For Day Time
I always always cleanse my skin with a gentle cleanser.I didn’t take a picture of one because honestly I’m not loyal to a specific face wash. But these days I’m using the Body Shop Vitamin E Face Wash which is rather mild and gentle on my skin so generally i opt for any gentle face wash with natural ingredients preferably.
To tone my skin i use 100% pure natural distilled rose water that gives my sensitive skin a cooling effect and both balances out my skin PH levels and calms down my pores. To moisturise i use the L’occitane Peony moisturiser. It doesn’t have spf in it which i know I’m suppose to use but i compensate that by using my foundation or tinted moisturiser which almost always has spf in it.The L’occitane Peony moisturiser has a lovely light fresh texture to it which refines my pores and helps even out my complexion especially if i had a late night in and my skin looks blotchy all over.To recharge my moisturiser i sometimes add in a few drops of the Nuxe Oil which is a lovely blend of precious oils that help my skin when I’m feeling a bit dry.Sometimes i’ll even skip my moistiser and just put the oil on its own and it feels lovely, light and comfortable not to mention it smells divine. When I’m going out, i like to put the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm to give my skin a good canvas to put my foundation or tinted moistiser on.It immediatley brightens my skin and also refines my pores to help my makeup look flawless.Lets not forget the under eye area.I started using an eye cream in 2014 and never finish my skincare without applying one.Its really important to me and currently I’ve been using the Dr Hauschka Daily Hydrating Eye Cream thats not a very rich cream but still moisturing enough to help with under eye concerns such as dark circles and hydration.
Now On To The Night Time Skin Care Routine
Now this is when i take some extra steps to amp up my skincare routine because night is when the skin heals and recharges from all the harsh environmental exposures its been through during the day.I start by cleansing my skin and following up with toning it with rose water just like the morning. Then i like to apply my serum and currently I’m using the Clarins Double Serum which is great for its anti ageing skin renewing proprieties. It calming for my skin and rich in all the active ingredients necessary to help the skin become radiant, smooth and fresh the next day.I then follow up with the Loccitane Shea 5% Comfort Cream which is rather rich but still not that rich that its clogs my sensitive combination skin.I tend to steer away from very rich creams since they tend to break me out.Instead i use thin layers of hydrating serums and creams and oils to address whatever skincare concern i have depending on how my skin is reacting that day. Finally the same eye cream i apply during the day and i call it a night 🙂
